Amos was born in Taiwan but grew up in Springfield, Illinois and went to Chicago for his undergraduate, medical, and surgical residency training at Northwestern University. While in medical school, Amos pursued seminary training at Moody Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School before moving to the Los Angeles area in 2006 to complete his residency training in anesthesiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
While in Los Angeles, Amos served as a deacon at Grace Community Church and as a staff undershepherd at its Crossroads Bible study at UCLA (Grace on Campus) and completed his Masters of Divinity at The Masters Seminary. Within a couple years of arriving in L.A., Amos met his future wife Emily. A courtship ensued, and the two were married in 2011. The two of them moved in 2012 to the San Francisco Bay area to help plant New Life Community Church (NLCC) where Amos serves as Lead Pastor along with an awesome team of three other pastors. Amos and Emily currently are expecting the arrival of their baby daughter in late October 2015.
Amos is a strong advocate of bivocational ministry and works as an anesthesiologist while also engaging in extensive ministry pursuits. His ministry passions include comprehensive discipleship, church planting, and training Christians to think biblically, discerningly, intelligently, and practically. Aside from his career in medicine and pastoring NLCC, Amos is pursuing a Masters of Theology at Talbot School of Theology. He can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
